1. Find a routine where I can focus on both blogging and creating content for YouTube.
In 2016, I really wanted to grow my channel on YouTube. I devoted a lot of my time in 2015 on my blog and it was truly so fun but I knew YouTube was something I always wanted to do. I decided to really put myself out there during the year of 2016 and I'm so proud of what my channel has become. I got over 1000 subscribers in a year and that was an incredible accomplishment. But, I really brushed my blog aside and I'm ready to take on the challenge of managing both. To start out, I'm going to post at least once a week on both platforms and see where that can take me.
2. Push myself to Bullet Journal.
I love the concept of Bullet Journaling. When I learned about it, it sounded like the exact thing I needed. I spend hours at the beginning of each year researching the best planners. Does this one have enough pages for lists? Can I plan out my weekends with this small amount of space? Why are there so many quotes in this one? Are these the colors I want to be looking at all year? I found planners I enjoyed using, like my Plum Paper Planner, but the idea of making my journal completely personalized really caught my attention. The dot grid helps keep things structured and is much easier on the eyes than standard grid paper. I just really want to find a set up I like and stick to it, and hopefully I can perfect it for 2018.
3. Save more money.
It's settling in a little that I'm a 20 year old adult. The fact that I have $500 in my savings account isn't going to cut it anymore. I need to start building a real savings for when I start doing real adult things. Like getting my own apartment or... other things adults are supposed to do. I'll know more when I get to that point but the point of all this is that I need to be more responsible with my money. Realistically speaking, my unhealthy shopping sprees and online shopping addiction aren't going to stop over night or in the near future for that matter, but I need to start setting aside more money for my savings account rather than making all of it disposable. I worked so much over winter break and I have nothing to show for it. Hopefully 2017 can be the year I finally start getting smarter with my paychecks.
4. Reach 2000 subscribers on YouTube.
I was able to get 1000 subscribers in 2016, so I'm going to try and get another 1000 for 2017. I think that's doable if I continue to create regular and quality content.
5. Incorporate more artistic and creative activities into my daily life.
I believe I have artistic talent harnessed somewhere inside of me and I'd like to start expressing that side of me more. I love getting creative with different crafts and projects. I used to love making tiny polymer clay trinkets and I always felt really good about myself when I saw my finished product. It used to be such a fun activity for me. As a more sophisticated pastime, I'd like to get into calligraphy and watercolor painting. I think it would be fun for me and it's something I can make my own.
What are some of your goals for 2017?
