Liquid Highlighters

Liquid highlighters are one of my favorite ways to achieve glowy skin in the winter time. Aside from looking way more natural than powder highlights, they are very versatile and easy to apply. Lets get into my liquid highlight collection:

My first liquid highlighters were the Benefit High Beam and Benefit Sun Beam. I got them in a little Benefit set and instantly fell in love. High Beam is a pearl highlight and probably the most intense liquid highlight I own. Sun Beam is great for summer because it is a more bronzy glow. I prefer using both of these highlights over my foundations because they have such a seamless finish to them.

I also own the travel sized versions of Becca Liquid Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal and Buxom Divine Goddess Luminizer. Opal is described as a golden pearl and is definitely one of my more natural looking liquid highlights. I love wearing it on my no-makeup makeup days. My Buxom highlight is intense. It is so beautiful and glowy. I actually love wearing it under my foundation on the highpoints of my face to achieve even more of a glow. The Buxom highlight is also interesting because it has an almost minty feel on the skin.

Lastly is my Tarte Maracuja Blush and Glow in Sunlight. I am focusing on the Glow potion of this product and the name does not lie. One thing that I love about this product is that it comes with a ton of product, so it'll last you forever. I also love the intensity of this stuff. Definitely not one of your more natural highlights, but it blends into the skin beautifully so it can fake the appearance of looking somewhat natural. Like the Buxom highlight, I love wearing this under my foundation to get that nice glow from within.

To apply all my liquid highlights I either use my Beauty Blender or my Real Techniques Setting Brush. I like using the Beauty Blender if I want my highlight to look more natural and seamless and I'll use my brush if I want the highlight to look more intense. Liquid highlights are great for layering, used as a base or on their own. I own mostly deluxe sample sizes of them because you hardly need any product to get the look you want. I also prefer them in the winter because my skin always benefits from the extra moisture.
