My Top 5 Favorite Highlighters
Highlighting is my favorite part of my makeup routine. I love buying them, swatching them, looking at them, and of course, applying them. I have so many highlighters, but I narrowed it down to my top 5. Here they are:
MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle. This was my first real highlighter. I had High Beam (another favorite), but I got Soft and Gentle when highlighting became a really big deal. It was quite the investment, but I purchased it at a CCO so I was able to get it at a discounted price. Soft and Gentle gives me a crazy glow. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who is wanting a light glow from within. This will make you look like a disco ball in the best way possible. I try new highlighters often, but I always go back to Soft and Gentle.
ELF Blush in Gotta Glow. I purchased this blush to see if it was similar to NARS Albatross. It isn't, but it is still stunning. This blush is definitely for those who want a soft highlight. On days where I want to keep things minimal, I'll use this guy. It's a light golden highlight that gives a beautiful natural glow. I would highly recommend this to someone who is just starting out or who doesn't love the highlighting craze trend.
Benefit High Beam. I love love love this on a hot summer day. This is definitely a staple in any pool day makeup, beach trip, summer outdoor adventure, even gym makeup. I really like popping this on before work (I work in a hot restaurant) too because it gives me a beautiful, fresh glow that feels weightless. The glow it gives is so iridescent and pretty. It feels completely weightless on the skin and lasts all day. Since it is a liquid, you can easily blend it out with your fingers.
MAC Pigment in Vanilla. MAC pigments will last you a lifetime. This was my very first pigment and I still have a full jar. Finding ways to use this product is endless. One of my favorites is as a highlight. Swipe some on your cheek bones, down the bridge of your nose, a little on the forehead, above the cupids bow, and a little below your lip and you have a stunning vanilla, shimmering glow. I like using this when I am doing a flawless makeup look.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop. Let me begin to say, I would bathe in this highlight. Not only do I love and support Jaclyn Hill (the brains behind this product), but I love this highlight. The formula, color, texture, shimmer... It's amazing. It's so soft and pigmented and the shade is phenomenal. It was designed to suit every skin tone, and it suits my medium skin very well.
Those are my top 5 favorite highlights. What are yours?
