NYX Highlight and Contour Pro Palette

NYX was recently 40% off at Ulta so I had to pick up a few things, the contour palette being one of them. For a while there, the contouring palette was sold out all the time, and the price was pretty steep for drugstore ($24.99). I was surprised when I saw the palette was still not sold out towards the end of the sale, so I took it as a sign that maybe I should purchase it! On sale, I got this for $11.99, cheaper than one Anastasia Beverly Hills contour powder.

I've been using this a lot lately, and I'm very impressed with the contouring shades. Although none of them are completely matte, they still do a great job defining my face. They are all a tiny bit satin, but I think it works. NYX might have needed them to have a tiny satin finish in order to make them more bendable and pigmented, which they are.

The matte highlighting shades are fine. I like to use the pale white shade to clean up my contour. The yellow shade is not as brightening as I'd like compared to the ABH Banana powder. There are two shimmery shades, a shimmering white and a shimmering peachy shade. The peachy shade is good if you don't want a strong glow, but that isn't for me. I like my highlight to be seen from space. The shimmering white still does not deliver the crazy glow that I like, but it's still very pretty and more shimmery than the peachy shade.

I think this Contouring Palette is worth the $12 I spent for it, but I would not have paid full price. I don't like that there are no names for these shades and I think the palette is poorly made. The powders shake in their little wells, and they snap in. I would prefer if they were magnetic. I do like that you can see all the shades from the closed packaging, and that it comes with two matte highlighting shades.  If you're on a budget, I think you can definitely get away with purchasing this and enjoy it too. Since I already own the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, I don't feel like this is necessary in my collection, but I wanted to review it and see what it was all about. Overall, if you can get this on sale, I think it is definitely worth checking out. $25 for this seems like a lot to me.
