Mario Badescu Skin Care Review

I have had my eye on the Mario Badescu skin care brand for a little while now at Ulta. I finally decided to try just a few of the products that spiked my interest. Here is my review:

I think the packaging is very simple and fresh looking. Definitely something I like to see in a skincare line. I have heard a great deal about the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater. Everyone seems to really enjoy this product so I knew I would probably like it too. The Mario Badescu Silver Powder was something completely new to me. I have never even heard of a concept like this before. Lastly, I picked up the Mario Badescu Strawberry Face Scrub. There were a few different scents, but strawberry was the one I figured I would like the most.

Mario Badescu Silver Powder

The smell of this product is very elegant and fresh. It claims to remove excess oil in the t-zone, unclog pores and take care of blackheads. The directions say to dip a wet cotton ball into the powder, apply it to the face, and let it sit for ten minutes.

I was not sure what I was expecting, but once the powder got wet, it turned into a thick paste. I applied it to my forehead, a large amount on and around my nose, and then some on my chin. I let it sit for about five minutes into the paste began to dry and turn into a powder again. Powder started falling from my face every time I made the slightest move, so I would not recommend wearing black while doing this! It says to take it off with a toner, so I did. For some reason it came off with the toner a lot better than regular water.

While the Silver Powder was on my face, I didn't really notice my skin tightening up or tingling at all. Once I removed it, my skin looked completely oil-free and a tiny but tight. My nose looked a lot smoother too. I would really love this product for the summer time when my skin is a little more oily and to use before a pore strip.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater

This smells like a dozen roses in a bottle. It smells absolutely amazing and is so refreshing on the skin. My skin can feel a big tight during the colder months, and I am starting to experience this right now. I'll spray this on my face before my makeup to bring hydration back, and then again when I am finished to take away the powdery look.

This has been replacing my MAC Fix+ lately and I can't say that I miss my Fix+. I feel like this product offers more hydration than Fix+ does and comes with 0.6 more ounces. Fix+ is $22 for 3.6oz and the Mario Badescu Facial Spray is $7 for 4oz. I like reaching for it just because of the price difference as well.

The only complaint I have is the nozzle. The spray comes out in a circle, which is pretty standard for most spray bottles, but Fix+ comes out evenly which wastes less product and saves time. I've been thinking about switching the Mario Badescu Facial Spray into an old Fix+ bottle, which would be an easy solution.

Mario Badescu Strawberry Face Scrub

Do you know when you go into a gas station bathroom and you get hit with that strong air freshener? This is what that smells like. It smells like a strawberry bathroom air freshener. It does't smell bad, I just don't love being able to associate my skin care with public restroom.... I was hoping the smell would be a little more like a tart strawberry.

The only "scrubbing" property this face scrub has are the little strawberry seeds. Needless to say, it's not really that exfoliating. This product claims to be for all skin types, and I believe that to be true. I have an oily-normal skin type and I am currently becoming a bit dry from the change in weather. This Strawberry Face Scrub does not dry out the skin and I don't find it to be super hydrating either. It's right in the middle, which is perfect for someone with a normal skin type.

My skin is relatively well behaved (knock on wood). I have some discoloration in normal places, but the texture is nice and smooth and I hardly ever get pimples. Lately though, I've been noticing these small bumps on my cheeks. I've been using this Strawberry Face Scrub every night before bed (baby soap to wash my face in the morning, but this is usual), and my little bumps are gone. I think I owe it to this Strawberry Facal Scrub.

Overall Thoughts

I am super pleased with all the products I purchased. I use the Strawberry Face Scrub every night before bed and I have been noticing my skin becoming more smooth on my cheeks and nose. I use the Facial Spray everyday when I do my makeup, before and after everything is done. I will definitely repurchase both of those items. The Silver Powder is a great product too, and I can see people who have issues with their skin loving this. My skin is relatively good, so I don't see myself using the Silver Powder too often. I definitely want to try more products from the Mario Badescu Skin Care line, especially a moisturizer!
