Five Shows on Netflix to Watch This Winter Break

Home for a month for winter break? Things can get a little boring after the holidays have settled down. That's why I put together a list of five TV Shows on Netflix that I have really enjoyed lately or in the past. You can start a new series to pastime, or start watching it with your friends and family as a way to spend time together.

Looking for a quick watch? Master of None, Aziz Ansari's new Netflix Original is a super funny and related show. The episodes are short and there are currently only 10 episodes so you can easily watch this in just a few days, or one day if you're really committed. Master of None is definitely not a show that will hook you in, but it is an easy and enjoyable show to pastime to. Aziz is one of my favorite comedians and his standup is hilarious. You can check out his standup on Netflix too if you are looking for a good laugh.

Looking for crime and suspense? Lately I have been loving The Following with Kevin Bacon. This show is so intense. Kevin Bacon plays an FBI agent who becomes obsessed with this case about a serial killer with a large cult following. The episodes are a little over 40 minutes each and there are 15 episodes in each of the 2 seasons Netflix has, so it will take you a little longer to finish this series. Netflix currently only has 2/3 seasons which is a bummer. I heard this show goes a little downhill, but I am halfway through the second season and I still love it. Another great show is Dexter. Dexter is a little more popular so you might have already seen it before, but if you haven't definitely go ahead and check it out. Both The Following and Dexter will have you hooked after the first episode.

Looking for a dramatic comedy? Jane the Virgin is so good that I can't even explain it in words. I was super against watching the show because I thought it would be stupid, but it isn't at all. It is funny, has tons of love triangles, dramatic, has some crime mixed in, and has cute boys. I am #TeamMichael, for the record. Watching Jane the Virgin will definitely put you in a good mood and it is a great show to watch with your friends and family.

Looking for something scary? The Walking Dead obviously gets my vote in this department. Even if you are not into the zombie craze I think you would still like this show because of the actual characters. You begin rooting for them and wanting to watch their survival. If you have already seen the show, try reading the comics. The Walking Dead is based off comics, if you did not know that already and you can buy them from book stores or download them online. The comics are really good, better than the show in my opinion. If the Walking Dead isn't for you, I recommend American Horror Story: Murder House and American Horror Story: Coven. These two seasons of American Horror Story are my favorite, and you don't need to watch the other seasons to know what is going on. Each season is like a whole new story.

Actually, a little more than five options I gave, but I wanted to share TV Shows that don't get enough credit or ones that I really love. Obviously, there are tons of other great TV Shows like Gossip Girl, The Office, Friends and Parks and Rec, but you've most likely seen those already and I wanted to give you different options for your winter break. I hope you take my recommendations and start watching some of the shows I mentioned above. Comment and let me know if you do!

The Southern Christmas Show: Charlotte, NC

Yesterday I went to the Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte, NC. The Southern Christmas Show is an event where tons of vendors from all over sell winter themed decor, clothing, and gifts. Many of the items are handmade and one of a kind. There was also super yummy food and some short skits that were performed. Also, tree decorating contests and miniature doll house displays (my favorite). Here are some of  the pictures I took at the Southern Christmas Show:

The detail in this miniature scene is so incredible!

This delicious cupcake is from Comfort Food on Wheels. It was called the Gingerbread Remix. Also, they SELL ONLINE! Check them out at Comfort Food on Wheels.

Adorable miniature dinner scene.

Look at that miniature fairy hut. SO CUTE!

I had lots of fun looking at all the cute things at the Southern Christmas show and I even picked up a few gifts for the holidays. Today is the last day of the event, but if you are in the area next year I definitely recommend going!
